Mikayla Savuto

Mikayla was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She moved to NYC to pursue a degree in Drama at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. After a series of physical injuries she realized she was lacking a true foundation for movement.

Fortunately, she met a movement teacher who reshaped her perspective about movement training for actors and formally introduced her to Pilates. Through this teacher and the core principles of Pilates, she began building a disciplined movement foundation that opened up her body for her work as an actor. After graduation she continued doing Pilates, started weightlifting and running as well and became certified to give the gift of the freedom, healing, and fun she found through Pilates to others.
“I take a detailed, biomechanics- oriented approach, but I like to balance that out by creating an environment where clients can feel the freedom to ask questions, laugh, and have some fun and be creative. Pilates changed my life, and Pilates has also challenged me to trust my body and to try (safe!) things that otherwise would have scared me.

I enjoy being around people in a one-on-one environment. I love helping people manage pain, recover from injury, or even teaching clients who just want to learn to the Teaser. I love helping people achieve their goals. “

Yuliya Romanskaya

Originally from Kiev, Ukraine, Yuliya grew up in Los Angeles where she began her dance training at the age of 5. She received her B.F.A. in Dance from California Institute of the Arts in 2010 where she became aware of Pilates as a platform for injury prevention. With a deeper interest in correct biomechanics, Yuliya progressed with her teacher certification at the Kane School of Core Integration in NYC. Yuliya pursues performing and teaching as a dance company member in Bryn Cohn + Artists. She is eager and excited to contribute her experiences and training at Mongoose Bodyworks NYC with individuals from every population

Cathy Simmons

Cathy came to the practice of Pilates more than 10 years ago, first as a dancer and then in pursuit of rehabilitation after a back injury. She discovered that over time strengthening her core was the key to remaining pain free while increasing overall body strength and range of motion. She became certified in Pilates Mat 6 years ago through Power Pilates in NYC, and has recently immersed herself in the study of anatomy, fitness and choreography, biomechanics, rehabilitation and injury prevention at the Kane School of Core Integration, Kinected.

It is her goal to work specifically with clients, tailoring each session to their needs and desires, while pushing them through perceived limits to increase body strength and awareness. She knows how important it is to work both global and local muscles, and believes that once you understand and correct postural alignment, everything else falls into place.

“What I love most about Pilates is that the journey is simply the destination. You may feel immediate results but stick with it and progression to greater strength and health is assured.”

Cathy’s movement background is in modern dance, ballet and choreography. She currently enjoys swimming, short distance running, yoga and is always looking for new challenges. Cathy lives in New York City in the East Village with her staffordshire-pit mix, Cherry.

Kara Tu

Kara is certified in Pilates through the Kane School, NYC. She is also a registered yoga teacher through the Hudson Yoga Project in New York City. After a long stint in marketing, tech and data analytics, Kara is devoting her full energy towards helping people feel great in their bodies. Her approach to Pilates is detailed, anatomical, and above all else – safe, fun and effective.

“ Setting goals and measuring progress is key. I love celebrating victories with my clients, whether it’s finding the perfect plank, doing a first full pushup, or being free of back pain. Empowering clients with knowledge of their own body becomes the engine for long-term change. An improved quality of life is one of the best gifts you can receive! “

Jeanette Wyche

Jeanette has always been fascinated by body mechanics. She was introduced to Pilates during her study of dance in college at Temple University. After earning a BFA in Dance, Jeanette sought to expand her knowledge of health and wellness by becoming a board certified Holistic Health Coach. Jeanette is guided by the idea that every “body” is different and therefore requires individual attention to thrive. Her goal in teaching and coaching is to help her clients feel their best and increase awareness in their bodies. Jeanette completed her Pilates certification through the Kane School of Core Integration in NYC. Jeanette is excited to be working in Soho at Mongoose Bodyworks New York City.

“I always make sure to do a thorough warm up so that the mind and body are prepared for the session. This way the client can settle into the work and more easily establish healthy movement patterns that involve the deep postural muscles.”
